Donors
The Center depends on the generosity of others to support our programs and services. The United Way of Greater St. Louis, the St. Louis Variety Club, and many private foundations and individuals enable us to offer high-quality programs to any child in need of the service.
Donations enable us to provide scholarships to children who otherwise would not be able to enroll in this type of program. In fact, on average, families pay only 32% of the actual cost of their childcare. The other 68% comes from a blend of government funding and private donations. In 2004, for example, we provided more than $350,000 worth of scholarship funding to children.
We also have a wish-list of commonly needed classroom items. These items may be dropped off at the Center, or you can mail a check with a note and we will purchase the items that you specify:
Diapers (size 3 and up) and wipes Boys and girls underwear (sizes 3T - children's 10) Plain white t-shirts (sizes 3T - children's 10) Sweatpants and sweatshirts (sizes 3T - children's 10) Washable markers or paint Crayons, colored pencils, chalk Children's scissors, construction paper, glue, glue stick Snacks (graham crackers, fruit snacks, granola bars, fish-shaped crackers) Puzzles and board games Pretend food, plates, dress-up clothes and other "props" for dramatic play CD and tape players Children's tape recorders
