Volunteers

The Center is always looking for volunteers to get involved. Hours are flexible and projects range from reading to children, tutoring adults, and event planning. If you are interested in volunteering, or would like more information please contact Tina Cheek at 314-544-3338.

Opportunities to work with children:

  • Reading to children
  • Setting up activities and playing with children in classrooms
  • Playing outdoor games with children
  • Teaching computer skills
  • Helping to supervise children on field trips
  • Teaching specific skills such as gardening or sewing through hands-on activities
  • Helping with homework

Opportunities to help with adults:

  • Teaching computer skills
  • Leading discussions during lifeskills classes
  • Tutoring

Other opportunities:

  • Board and Committee service
  • Fund raising and event planning
  • Cleaning (wiping tables, shelves, cubbies)
  • Sanitizing toys
  • Shopping and running errands
  • Helping to maintain the library of children's books
  • Minor repairs
  • Yardwork and gardening
